Panthers stumble against USF
The Pitt football team had an extra week to prepare for their game with South Florida on Saturday. By the way the Panthers played, though, one might have supposed that they had no preparation whatsoever, as the Bulls dealt their visitors a rather easy 22-12 loss at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
For Pitt, the mistakes, miscues, and unfocused play started immediately. Well, not immediately, as the Panthers astutely deferred possession of the ball until the second half after winning the coin toss. No, the lack of focus took hold on the next even of the game, as Adam Graessle's kickoff dropped out of bounds just outside the goalline, giving South Florida the ball at their own 35-yard line.
