Senior quarterback Joe Tereshinski practiced well Wednesday as the
team went through eleven-on-eleven drills. Tereshinski's ankle is holding
up to practice and he will be ready to go according to head coach Mark Richt.

"I think he is feeling it, but he is not hobbling by any means and that
is good," said Richt of his starting quarterback. "With some good
tape, a brace, and some adrenaline he will be fine."

The coaches had some concern given the fact the injury is to his plant foot
where the quarterback generates power on their passes, but Tereshinski has been
throwing the ball well all week.

Tereshinski has been preparing for the Tennessee game since injuring his ankle
and the coaches believe he has seen more film than they have on the Volunteers.

"He definitely knew to start studying that film early and his dad has
helped him out," said Richt.

Tereshinski's dad Joe Tereshinski II is the video and game analysis
coordinator for Georgia and helps put together the video packages the team and
players study for their opponents.

The Georgia offense will look to Tereshinski to open up the passing attack
this week and all the offense to find a rhythm for the first time since the
UAB game three weeks ago.

Turner returns for Tennessee

Senior offensive tackle Michael Turner will play Saturday
against Tennessee. This will be his first game since injuring his ankle against
South Carolina in the second game of the season.
"I will definitely be out there and play," said Turner.

Senior tackles Daniel Inman and Ken Shackleford
are relieved to be two deep at tackle for the first time this season.

Sims opts out of Georgia

Sophomore safety Antonio Sims has left the University of Georgia
to seek football opportunities elsewhere. Head coach Mark Richt said, "Antonio
is looking for greener pastures elsewhere." Sims was suspended for the
2006 season after getting in trouble for misusing a park pass and being charged
with a DUI last fall.

Wood and Ward out for the year

Freshman defensive end Brandon Wood is out for the year with
a torn labrum in his left shoulder and tight end NaDerris Ward
is out for the year with an AC joint injury in his shoulder.

"I hurt my shoulder during the second scrimmage of the year," said
Wood. "I had surgery for a torn labrum and I will be out until next fall."

Wood joins fellow freshman tight end Ward on the sideline for this season.
Ward had surgery on his shoulder to repair an AC joint and he may be able to
come back in the spring.

"NaDerris injury is more of an AC joint he injured it in high school
and normally those heal down on their own, but it was too far separated,"
said Richt. "It is a nagging type of thing and if we cleaned it up we
thought he would be in great shape the rest of the way."

Both players may be able to participate in non-contact drills in the spring,
but Wood is less likely to see any action.

Lumpkin's 100-yard day

Junior running back Kregg Lumpkin was the first Bulldog to
run for 100 yards in a game with his 106-yard performance against Ole Miss.
Danny Ware was the last Georgia running back to run for 100
yards when Ware did it against Louisiana-Monroe last season. Georgia went 14
straight games without a 100-yard rusher until last week.

The last time a Georgia running back had back-to-back 100-yard games was the
2004 season when Thomas Brown ran for 122 yards against Vanderbilt
and 107 yards against Arkansas.

Georgia secondary looks to get physical

The defensive secondary has played fairly well this season and they will have
a tough test this weekend when Tennessee comes into Sanford Stadium with two
quality receivers and a good young quarterback. Defensive coordinator and defensive
backs coach Willie Martinez wants to see more consistency from
his secondary.

"They have been up and down all season and missing tackles and I want
to see more consistency from the defensive backs," said Martinez.

Both Martinez and Richt are looking for better tackling from their defense
as a whole and especially the defensive backs.

"I think the coverage has been good, but we need to be more physical
when we tackle," said Richt. "We have to mix things up and if we
make things real predictable for the receivers, quarterbacks, and the coaching
staff so we cannot lineup and play one coverage, so we will have to mix it up
on them."

Martinez and Richt are happy with the play of freshmen corners Asher
Allen and Prince Miller.

"I like what the freshmen in the secondary are doing, they are a little
like our quarterbacks making mistakes here and there, but they have not made
that many that have been glaring to the public eye. They are going to be very
good football players."

Big Recruiting Weekend

Coach Richt said after practice Wednesday that this is the biggest recruiting
weekend of the year for Georgia.

"This weekend is big, of course we had a big home game against Auburn
last year that we lost, but it was still an extremely positive for recruits
for a couple of reasons. The atmosphere was lights out and they love that, the
game was truly exciting they like that, and the way our fanbase reacted toward
our team even though we lost and towards each other made a big impression on
our recruits and their families," said Richt.
The reactions of the Georgia fanbase impressed the young recruits and the fan
reaction may have helped Georgia land a few players last year.
"I had a couple of them say it is amazing how your fans embraced the team
even though you did not win the game," said Richt.

Late Night Games

With a second night game in a row, coach Richt is happy this one is at home
after the team arrived in Athens at six in the morning following the Ole Miss
game.

"I was not real happy about last week and I am pretty certain LSU wanted
a night game and Georgia wanted a day game," said Richt of the scheduling.
"I think Ole Miss would have been fine with a day game and I think all
parties as far as the administrations and athletics staffs would have liked
to have that switched around. It did not happen and it would have been a nice
thing to see some cooperation. Most of the time I do not worry about it, but
that was one instance where it would have been nice to work something out."

Coach Richt hopes in the future the television networks will allow teams to
swamp unfavorable kickoff times between each other.

Injury update

Senior defensive tackle Marquis Elmore is questionable for
the Tennessee game with a strained neck.
Joining Elmore in green jerseys were wide receivers Sean Bailey
and Tony Wilson.

Other News and Notes…

The Silver Wing Command Exhibition Parachute Team from Ft. Benning, Ga will
parachute into Sanford Stadium at the before kickoff of the Tennessee game.
The troops will carry at United States flag along with the team flags of both
schools.

Former Georgia basketball star and recent Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall
of Fame inductee Dominique Wilkins will be honored at halftime of the Tennessee
game.

"I probably do not brag enough about our scouts because it is not an
easy job and they got to give a great look and if they give poor effort or do
not know what they are doing then we do not get much out of practice,"
said Richt.
