Ask the expert: Oklahoma State
Kansas State will look to avoid a three-game losing streak when Oklahoma State visits Manhattan this weekend, and to learn all we could about the Cowboys we went straight to Jeff Johnson, the Publisher of OStateIllustrated of the Rivals.com network. Johnson answered our questions and gave us his prediction for Saturday's game.
1.) Bobby Reid was very highly recruited coming out of high school but struggled a bit last year. He looks to be putting up solid numbers this season; is he now living up to the hype that originally surrounded him?
It's more than just numbers with Reid. They've been good, but the real story is with Reid's grasp of the offense, leadership and emergence as a running threat. In the loss at Houston, Reid was spectacular and showed some of the talent that made him one of the top dual-threat QB prospects in the country in 2004. Last season, Reid rarely looked like any kind of threat to make plays with his legs. In the first three games this season, he showed flashes of that ability but it was the game in his hometown where he finally made some "wow!" kind of plays on the ground. His passing accuracy has improved, and he's particularly strong at throwing on the move. That, combined with his natural running instincts starting to re-emerge, has made for a solid combo so far this season.
2.) Simple question that may lack a simple answer. Who's better, Adarius Bowman or D'Juan Woods?
You're right, there isn't a simple answer. There's probably two ways to answer this: production and NFL prospects. So far this season, Bowman has the better numbers. That's a bit misleading, however, as opposing defenses have generally double-covered or bracketed Woods, leaving the 6-4, 230 Bowman in single coverage.
