Season Preview: Upgraded DL must remain healthy
The Sun Devils will feature a substantially revamped defensive line this season, with three Division I transfers capable of providing an immediate impact -- if they are in good health -- and Kyle Caldwell coming off the best fall camp of his college career. It's a group that needs to improve dramatically if Arizona State is to have the kind of success it hopes to achieve in 2006.
Last season, the Sun Devils finished last in the Pac-10 in total defense, and 114 out of 117 Division I programs, allowing an eye-popping 468.75 yards per game.
Remarkably, the Sun Devils finished a respectable fifth in scoring defense in the conference, giving up 29 points per outing.
