St. Louis (Mo.) Hazelwood West athlete Lamark Brown was one of the first verbal commitments for Ron Prince and Kansas State when he gave his pledge to the Wildcats in early March. Other schools continued to recruit him despite his announcement following the annual junior day the Wildcats host in the spring.

"I am solid with Kansas State," the 6-foot-3, 215-pound Brown said.

Brown said a discussion with his family and his coach helped him realize he wanted to be in Manhattan.

Brown spent some time over the summer with fellow K-State commitment Jayson Cuba in Cuba's hometown, Newton, Kan.
