Insider Report: Kicking woes continue
With the season opener at Miami getting closer every day, the Seminole football team spent the first hour of Thursday's practice working exclusively on special teams. Every thing from field goals, to punt block, to kickoff coverage and returns were the focus of the early part of the practice. The second hour was more of a regular practice routine with the offense and defense on separate sides of Doak Campbell Stadium working on fundamentals.
With Thursday's main focus on the kicking game, all eyes were on field goals and once again there is cause for concern. After hitting a perfect 3-for-3 attempts, including a 54-yarder in Tuesday's scrimmage, it was back down to earth for Gary Cismesia. The junior place-kicker hit only 2-of-6 on Thursday, with two misses coming from 37 and two more from 40 yards out.
