Coffman adds to depth at quarterback

GoPowercat.com While Josh Freeman barked signals at the line during 11-on-11 drills Saturday afternoon, a young man who knows Freeman nearly as well as the true freshman knows himself, stood close behind.
Enter Carson Coffman. No, Coffman wasn't visiting. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound fellow true freshman quarterback received a scholarship from Kansas State on Friday. And Freeman, one of two quarterbacks vying for the starting job, couldn't be happier.
"He's been my best friend for as long as I can remember," said Freeman, who said he would room with Coffman in the fall.
Coffman shadowed Freeman and senior Dylan Meier during a majority of the Wildcats' second open practice.
Coffman, who initially accepted a grayshirt offer from the team on Jan. 31, threw for 42 touchdowns and eight interceptions during his final two seasons at Raymore-Peculiar (Mo.) High.
