Scrimmage notebook: Offense overpowers the D
The Tiger offense may not have started great, but it did finish strong in the Monday scrimmage. The offense won the day 48-26 by the coaches' scoring system.
The score was so lopsided, in large part, due to the fact that the Tigers had four touchdowns and only one turnover.
"This last week we've been focused on holding the ball," said wideout Tommy Saunders. "We had a couple fumbles throughout the week so that was our main focus today is just keep the ball leverage, hold it tight."
Even more impressive is that the offense outscored the defense despite not playing with a full arsenal. For example, tight ends Chase Coffman and Martin Rucker were not on the field together for a single snap.
"You're putting all your offensive system in so kids are learning all different things," head coach Gary Pinkel said.
