Johnson ready to become a starter
It's been an up and down career thus far for Donnie Johnson.
The senior was moved from running back to wide receiver to defensive back and then to safety in his first three years at Penn State. However, his last move has been the most beneficial.
Johnson is finally in line to be a starter in 2006 as he helps solidify a secondary that lost all four starters from a season ago. Johnson believes his time at each position early on his career was something that helped him prepare for his new role.
"I feel it has helped me because I learned a lot at every position I played," Johnson said. "I carry what I learned at running back to receiver to corner back. Every position I learned a little bit from there and took it to where I'm at now."
Although he finally has that title of starter, Johnson still believes he has to work just as hard to keep that honor.
"I'm still looking over my shoulder, but not as much," he said. "I'm still working and trying to be perfect in every aspect of the game."
