One of mid-state's best athletes getting looks
One of Tennessee's best athletes has been flying under recruiting radar in Ezell-Harding's Carl Gettis. The 5-foot-10, 187 pound running back/cornerback has been a standout for the Eagles and last season helped the squad to a 8-4 record and the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.
Gettis, who was used in many different ways by the Eagles coaching staff, rushed for 1,186 yards and 14 touchdowns on 184 carries while also catching 42 passes for 638 yards and two touchdowns.
For his performance, Gettis was named Class 2A first team All-State by the TSWA. And recently, the 4.45 speedster has seen attention from a number of schools, including some in the SEC.
"My top three schools showing me interest have probably been Vanderbilt, Memphis, and Ole Miss," says Gettis. "I've also been getting mostly letters from Tennessee and MTSU."
