Another S. Florida team captures AU camp title
For the second time in the last week and the third in the last two years, a team from South Florida came to Auburn and won a passing camp title.
Last week it was Belle Glade, Fla., Glades Central High winning its second consecutive championship. On Friday, Miramar, Fla., High fought back from two first-day losses to beat Colquitt County, Ga., in the finals.
While there wasn't much of star on the Miramar squad, the biggest contribution came from sophomore quarterback Eugene Smith.
Smith, a 6-foot-3, 170-pounder, started the last half of the season in 2005 as a freshman on the 6A Miramar squad. This weekend in Auburn he showed a lot of promise for the future as he did enough to lead his team to the championship.
