Defense must again become a strength

The number seven means a lot to Kansas State football fans.
Of course, there's the obvious meaning: seven points equals a touchdown plus the extra point.
Michael Bishop, the 1998 Heisman Trophy runnerup, wore No. 7 during his two outstanding years as K-State's quarterback in 1997 and 1998.
In his seventh season, former coach Bill Snyder reached the 10-win plateau for the first time.
Then there's the seven straight seasons in which the K-State defense ranked in the top 6 in total defense, from 1997-2003.
That streak stopped at seven, when the Wildcats finished with the 43rd-ranked defense in the nation in 2004.
