Olive Branch's Wright holding two instate offers
Ole Miss already has pledges from four defensive linemen across the state and area but the real question is how many will the Rebels sign on National Signing day 2007.
A lot of offers still remain on the table and it's evident that linemen on both sides of the ball will be a major priority for this class. One local defensive end that is holding an Ole Miss offer is Olive Branch's K.J. Wright.
Wright, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound athlete that runs a 4.5 forty, has official offers so far from Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
"Right now those are my only two offers," Wright said last week. "Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State, Southern Mississippi and Memphis are showing me a lot of attention as well."
One thing that has impressed Wright about Ole Miss is its campus and new athletic facilities.
"Everything at Ole Miss is so much more up to date than a lot of the other campus in the state," Wright said. "Their indoor practice facility and the tunnel leading to the stadium are really impressive."
Wright has also had the opportunity to visit MSU this spring as well.
"I like the family atmosphere there," Wright said. "I also like the fact that Coach (Sylvester) Crooms stresses academics as much as he does."
Another thing that standouts to Wright about Ole Miss is the fact that two of his best friends have recently signed with the Rebels and the recent success Ole Miss had in recruiting.
"They dominated the state in recruiting and produced a top 20 class in the nation," Wright said. "If they win some ballgames this season it will even get better, Ole Miss is a program that is headed in the right direction."
Wright is ready to start learning a new defense under new Olive Branch head coach Scott Samsell.
"We are ready to get on the field and see how we are going to be this fall, I think we are going to be good again," Wright said. "We have several players coming back and we are excited about the possibilities."
