Columbus, Miss., Caledonia lineman Derek Sherrod says "Miami's been sending me letters extensively, and I've called up there a couple of times to coach (Mario) Cristobal."

Of his impression of Cristobal, Sherrod says, "He seems like a really nice guy that knows what he's doing and has some really big plans for Miami."

He last spoke to Cristobal a week ago.

"We just talked about general stuff, how I've been training, the changes I've been going through -- I've been getting stronger and faster, more endurance — the whole recruiting process," Sherrod said.
