White prevails in front of record crowd
Kansas State head coach Ron Prince hoped to have 20,000 fans present for Saturday night's Spring Game at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Wildcat fans gave Prince that and more, as a Spring Game record crowd of 31,875 showed up to watch the White squad earn a 21-14 victory over the Purple team, thanks in part to a 47-yard touchdown pass from Allen Webb to Yamon Figurs.
The White squad jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after forcing the Purple to go three-and-out on the game's initial possession. Dylan Meier was the starter for the White team and hit on all four of his pass attempts on his first series, including an 8-yard scoring strike to senior tight end Donald Raymer to cap the drive. Meier also had a 21-yard run on the first play of the possession, helping to set up the game's first points.
A turnover led to the White's second touchdown of the evening. Purple quarterback Kevin Lopina was credited with a fumble when trying to make a handoff, and defensive end Blake Seiler recovered the loose ball at the 17-yard line to gain possession for the White. It took just two plays, a 10-yard pass from Webb to Raymer and a 7-yard touchdown run by Donnie Anders, to make it 14-0 with 9:50 left in the second quarter.
