Scheel still rock solid
While Iowa may have lost one four-star commitment this week, it does not appear they are in danger of losing their other in-state one. Jay Scheel says he is rock solid with the Hawkeyes and his decision is final. After visiting Iowa City on Sunday, Scheel talked about his relationship with the Iowa coaches, his reaction to Ross Pierschbacher's change of heart, and much more.
Q: How was the Iowa visit?
SCHEEL: It was a lot of fun. I had a good time with the coaches. I talked to a few players and had fun. We watched practice and watched how the quarterbacks were competing. It was all good stuff.
Q: What did you do while on campus?
SCHEEL: We got there and just mingled. We ate at their indoor facility. Then we sat in with position meetings and I was in with the receivers for no particular reason. We watched practice and then could leave whenever.
Q: Whose decision was it for you to go with the receivers?
SCHEEL: I could have gone with the quarterbacks but I was talking to Coach Kennedy and he said maybe we'll see you in there. I just went in there and learned about their offense.
Q: Are you still planning to start at quarterback?
SCHEEL: It really is up in the air I feel. I really do like playing quarterback and a lot of people say that I am really good at. I take it all in but I am not in a hurry to worry about college yet. I am just soaking it all in right now.
