Spring Preview: Offensive Line
If Oklahoma State football fans have come to count on one thing year-in, year-out in the Mike Gundy era, it might be that Joe Wickline will find a way to put together an offensive line that is very good.
This spring, Wickline has a mix of experienced returnees and a couple of spots to fill. Three guys - all on the interior of the offensive line - who started at least some last year have graduated and moved on. On the edge, all of 2012's two deep returns at tackle.
Key losses: G Lane Taylor, C Evan Epstein
Key Returnees: SR LT Parker Graham, JR RT Daniel Koenig, SR G Brandon Webb
Taylor and his 47 career starts is a loss that can't be understated. He was a stalwart on the OL's in 2010-2012. OSU will also be replacing the guy who started beside him at center in every 2012 game except one. Epstein answered one of last spring's big questions when he stepped in as Grant Garner's replacement, and performed very well.
The good news is that Wickline has had over a year to groom replacements for those players. Junior Jake Jenkins gave Epstein a good run in the battle for the starting center job last spring, and picked up one start last year when Epstein missed the Louisiana game due to injury. Fellow junior Eli Dickerson was never a threat to overtake Taylor, but has a full year of understudy under his belt. Sophomore Travis Cross and redshirt freshman...
