Warner eager to call plays as co-coordinator
EAST LANSING - Dave Warner has called plays at Kansas, Uconn, and a handful of other stops during his 29 years as college football coach.
But Michigan State's newly-promoted co-offensive coordinator has never faced the challenge of calling plays at power conference contender like Michigan State.
"This is the big spotlight," said Warner. "Obviously there are a lot of eyes on us. This will be a little bit more pressure packed. I am sure that everybody is going to have their opinion. That is part of the fun. That is part of the pressure."
As the quarterbacks coach at Michigan State the past six seasons, Warner is well aware of the scrutiny and criticism to comes with the offensive coordinator position.
"This has been my goal to get back to a position like this as a coordinator," Warner said. "It's a challenge, you know. But it's something I've wanted for a long time and the opportunity is here and I'm certainly anxious. Appreciate but very anxious to be here and confident to go out these next couple months and down the road, hopefully make us a good offense."
