With the coaching shakeup at Western Illinois, kicker Pat Smith has chosen to explore his options as a postgraduate student athlete and whether or not he wanted to utilize his final year of football eligibility on the FCS or FBS level.

Toward that end, he took an official visit to Lincoln this weekend to get a feel for what it would be like to compete for the Huskers' kicking job this coming season.
