Dunn nixes BC trip
No commitment is official until a kid signs a national letter of intent with a school and that proved to be true when Wake Forest commitment Wendell Dunn appeared to reopen his recruitment with an official visit scheduled to Boston College for this weekend; however, he cancelled those travel plans.
"They [Boston College] were trying to creep in, but right now I'm done with all of the recruiting process, so right now I'm just strictly Wake," Dunn said. "Wake is all I'm interested, and that's where I'm going next year. I'm a Demon Deacon."
"I was [going to visit Boston College], but I thought about it and it was not going to do anything. There was no purpose of taking a visit."
The 6-foot-4 and 210-pound Miami (Fla.) Palmetto outside linebacker asked himself what the purpose would be for a trip to Chestnut Hill and he could not think of one, so he changed his mind.
Derrick Jackson and Ray McCartney recruited him for the Demon Deacons. Dunn spoke with McCartney Tuesday, Jan. 15 and called Jackson Wednesday, Jan. 16 to wish him a happy birthday.
Dunn, who was previously committed to Central Florida, switched to Wake Forest Wednesday, Dec. 12.
He recorded 110 tackles, 7.5 sacks, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. Offensively, Dunn amassed 400 yards receiving and nine touchdowns.
Rivals.com rates Dunn as a two-star recruit.
