Sobolewski may play less, contribute more
Dave Sobolewski is the perfect employee, a workaholic some might say. He comes to the office, punches the clock and puts his nose to the grindstone.
Bill Carmody loves Sobolewski's attitude. But like so many employers in today's economy, the CEO of Northwestern's basketball program wants to see more production in less time from the 6-foot-1, 190-pound point guard from Naperville.
Carmody has often said 18- to 22-year-olds should have no problem logging 37-38 minutes a game. But those were in leaner times on the Wildcat roster, which now bolsters four guards trying to split up two slots of 40 minutes work time.
"I played him too much last year,'' Carmody says of Sobolewski's 35.2-minute average workload.
