Game at a Glance
For more than three quarters, the Missouri Tigers were matching sixth-ranked Georgia punch for punch. Mizzou led the Bulldogs for most of the first 44 minutes of game action.
But once the Tigers fell behind, things went south in a hurry.
Down 27-20, Missouri had the ball and a chance to drive for a tying touchdown. But Jarvis Jones intercepted James Franklin and returned the ball to the Missouri one-yard line. Todd Gurley scored on the next play to put Georgia up 14. Mizzou's next series ended with Jones sacking Franklin. The Bulldogs recovered inside the five and scored again on a Ken Malcome run, removing all doubt and making the final a somewhat deceptive 41-20.
"You can't make the kind of mistakes we made in games like that and survive," Gary Pinkel said. "You're not going to win games like that against people like that if you make some of the mistakes we had.
"It's not only those two plays. We had the ball inside the 50-yard line twice and came away with three points. Gave up some big plays. Anyway, we'll learn from it and get ready for Arizona State."
