Mississippi State cannot erase the last three games from their record.
But the Bulldogs have the opportunity to reverse their fortunes of late against top-ranked Kentucky tonight. The two SEC foes have developed somewhat of a rivalry on the hardwood of late and renew it at 8 p.m. inside Humphrey Coliseum.
The two teams have split their last six outings with two taking overtime to decide the winner. The average margin of victory over the last seven games in the series has been decided by just 4.9 points. The Wildcats lead the overall series 87-20 including the last three matchups.
UK won last year in Lexington 85-79 behind a 24-point performance from Brandon Knight on 8-of-15 shooting. The Bulldogs got 21 points from Ravern Johnson in 25 minutes off the bench hitting 4-of-5 behind the arc.
Rick Stansbury is 4-12 against his home state Wildcats but just 1-8 against ranked Kentucky teams.
MSU (19-8) has lost three straight games to Georgia, LSU and Auburn to even their SEC record at 6-6.The losses dropped the Bulldogs from the top 25 rankings for the first time since Nov. 21. They are coming off a 65-55 loss on the road at Auburn on Saturday. Junior forward Arnett Moultrie led State with 16 points and 11 rebounds for his SEC-leading 15th double-double of the year.
