Lockie gives status update
With Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas entering the NFL draft following his junior season, quarterback recruiting for the Ducks took on increased importance for the class of 2012. With two players already verbally committed, Oregon appears set at the position.
Rocklin (Cali.) Whitney signal-caller Jake Rodriques committed to the Ducks in May 2011. Rodrigues shows great promise despite suffering a setback in November of his senior season with a broken leg and ankle injury. The other quarterback committed to the Ducks is Danville (Cali.) Monte Vista standout Jeff Lockie. Duck Sports Authority caught up with Lockie to get an update on his status.
"Right now I'm playing basketball, so playing basketball and then starting to work out for the offseason, throwing a little bit," replied Lockie. "Right now it is a lot of basketball though, and just working out."
Listed at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds in the database, Lockie says he has added some bulk despite playing hoops.
"I'm probably up at 184 now," said Lockie. "As soon as the season ends, I'll hit offseason lifting pretty hard."
