Spartans hope to benefit from abbreviated bowl prep
EAST LANSING - Michigan State held its first bowl practice less than a week after clinching a share of the Big Ten title with a win at Penn State on Nov. 27 in 2010.
In fact, the Spartans already had a handful of practices in before they learned that they would be paired with Alabama in the Capital One Bowl.
Michigan State's practice schedule in 2011, however, looks quite different. The Spartans will condense their practices for the Outback Bowl into 17-day period beginning this Friday.
"We have changed some things up as far as how we've approached it practice-wise," said defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi. "We want to make sure that the kids don't get stale, that sort of thing."
