Louisiana Tech is 9 points from being 4-0 and that is well documented. Even the ESPNU crew doing the Tech at Mississippi State game mentioned in the closing moments of the broadcast that Tech was the best 1-3 team in the country. That doesn't mean much to head coach Sonny Dykes.
"Well that and 50 cents will buy you a Coke," said Dykes after hearing multiple references to that line from the broadcast. "Actually probably 75 cents now days."
Being the best 1-3 team to Dykes means nothing obviously. However, close loses to affect recruiting, especially against an SEC foe.
We caught up with a Tech commitment, Cyril Noland and a guy with strong Tech favoritism, Kenneth Dixon.
BleedTechBlue.com: How did you think Tech did against Mississippi State? What did you take away from the game? Does it solidify your commitment or bring you closer to a commitment?
Dixon: "I watched the game on TV and thought they did great. The fact that the team never gave up made me want to commit since I was already really close to committing."
Noland: "It was a good game and I just hated they couldn't close out. They should've won that one. It firmed up my commitment even more."
As the old saying goes, "there is no such thing as moral victories." In recruiting however, showing you can compete with anyone always helps.
