Young defense plays well
Needing to replace seven starters from a season ago, there were obvious questions surrounding the 2011 edition of the West Virginia defense. But if the season opener against Marshall is any indication, the group should be primed for solid season.
The defense kept Marshall in check, allowing only two short field goals, with one coming at the end of the second quarter, and another with 5:14 left in the third quarter. On both drives, the defense had a bend but not break approach and held tight in the redzone preventing the Herd from crossing the goal line.
