Kaminski dodges serious setback
Michigan State commitment Kenny Kaminksi is fortunate that he isn't in the same position that Spartan star Kalin Lucas was at the end of March one year ago.
It took Lucas, who tore his Achilles tendon during the first round of the NCAA Tournament against New Mexico State last March, more than nine months to approach full strength.
Kaminski, a 6-foot-7 forward, strained his Achilles tendon during a 45-41 victory over Elyria in the first game of the Division I playoffs in Ohio. After the game, the future Spartan could feel his Achilles tendon tightening up to point where he soon found himself on crutches.
"When I went in to the doctor he told me that it wasn't torn," explained Kaminski who is ranked the No. 77 player in the Class of 2012 by Rivals.com. "He told me that I was very lucky that it wasn't because I was in pre-tear mode. If I had played another game or not gone to see him when I did my doctor said that I would have torn it. I am fortunate that I went in to see him when I did."
