Up and down season continues
Mississippi State enters Wednesday night's Southeastern Conference matchup with Arkansas with a 4-4 league record.
The Bulldogs have already pulled off two road wins and an upset of then No. 24 Florida but have also lost four times by an average of 15.3 points.
"We've been up and down," said MSU head coach Rick Stansbury. "I thought we came off of two pretty good games at home against Vanderbilt, which we did not win. I thought our kids played hard and were in position to win. Then we beat Florida which was a big win for us. I didn't think we played well at Alabama at all. Then we went on the road and anytime you can find a way to scratch one out, I thought that was big for our team to find a way to scratch it out at Baton Rouge. There isn't a lot of consistency in what we're doing but we're just trying to get better every game."
The Bulldogs have seemingly been through it all this season. Both Renardo Sidney and Dee Bost missed a combined 23 games due to NCAA suspensions to begin the season. Then Sidney missed three more games due to altercations with his teammates off the court.
But since 2011 began things had gotten back on track for a while until recently. Last week senior wing Ravern Johnson was suspended for inappropriate tweets following the loss to Alabama. His suspension was extended to indefinitely on Monday after missing practice Thursday and Friday and not attending class.
