X-rays will tell tale

WVSports.com MORGANTOWN--The next important date for WVU's starting quarterback Geno Smith will come between Feb. 16-18, when the sophomore's foot will be "re-X-rayed," according to the football team's trainer. "Then, we'll go from there," said Dave Kerns on Thursday. Smith, who finished the year ranked No. 1 in the Big East Conference in pass efficiency (144.7), broke the fifth metatarsal on his left foot in January 2010. By April the bone had healed, but a "non-union" of the digit occurred during the season. He underwent foot surgery after the Champs Sports Bowl.
