Damaris Johnson is closing in on 7,000 career all-purpose yards, and he kept moving up the NCAA's all-time list Saturday during Tulsa's ripping of Rice.

So you know Johnson is used to giving big performances.

But what Johnson did Saturday in Tulsa's 64-27 victory stood out for a few reasons.

First, Johnson took over first place in the Conference USA career kickoff return yardage list. He had 134 yards against Rice, including a 94-yard return for a touchdown, only his second kickoff return for a score in his illustrious career. He needs only 34 yards to have the NCAA record.

"He's a great player, and I don't know what they were thinking kicking the ball to him," Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne said. "He always, always comes out and plays, and he's a good player."
