Campbell makes the call
When Florida cornerback Torrey Campbell visited Iowa in June, he was pretty sure that he had found a home, but wanted to wait and see all of his options first. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Campbell visited each of the other schools in his top five this summer, but kept coming back to his gut feeling with the Hawkeyes, so today he made the call and ended his recruiting.
Campbell, who attends Baron Collier High School in Naples, FL, had narrowed his choice down to Iowa, Tennessee, Boston College, Kentucky, and Louisville this summer. Schools such as Purdue, West Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin, Rutgers, and Kansas also offered.
The Iowa coaching staff projects Campbell at cornerback in college as they look to utilize the speed that helped him finish second in the state of Florida in the 110-meter hurdles this past spring with a time of 14.12 seconds.
Campbell is the twelfth verbal commitment for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2011.
