Johnson anxious to get back on the field
After tearing his ACL early in his senior season last year, running back De'Andre Johnson is anxious to get back on the field. The 5-foot-8, 210-pound Johnson is making the move to Iowa City right away this summer so he can continue to rehab his knee, work out with the team, and get ready for his freshman year. The Miami native talks about the upcoming move, how he did in track this spring, his expectations for his freshman year, and much more.
Q: When are you making the move to Iowa?
JOHNSON: I'm reporting on June 6.
Q: So you are headed out there right away basically?
JOHNSON: Yeah, it's right around the corner.
Q: Will going out there early help you as continue to rehab your knee?
JOHNSON: Yeah, but I'm already up to at least 90% now. I just want to get around the team and start working out with them to get a feel for it and the whole area.
Q: Will you be there most of the summer then?
JOHNSON: Yeah. I go up in June and then I get a break in July for about a week and then I'll go back up again.
Q: Is there anything specific you are focused on working on this summer?
JOHNSON: I just basically want to my knee back to 100% and then get a little stronger and faster so I can be ready to play at the college level.
