'Mr. Electric' stops by MSU
Maple Heights (Ohio) wide receiver prospect Shaquille Washington was one of several high-quality prospects in East Lansing Saturday during Michigan State's spring practice. In fact, Washington made the visit to MSU with the Spartans' newest verbal commitment, quarterback Connor Cook of Cuyahoga Falls (Ohio) Walsh Jesuit.
The first marked the first time Washington (5-8, 147) has visited MSU, and he came away impressed with what he saw.
"I went up to Michigan State and it was kind of amazing, the facilities and everything. It kind of shocked me how great it was," Washington told SpartanMag.com early Sunday evening. "But I kind of heard things about it from other players, like (Ohio State cornerback signee) Christian Bryant and (Toledo linebacker signee) Jayrone Elliott from Glenville. They were telling me how good Michigan State was, and yesterday I got a first chance to see it for myself."
Washington has been on the Spartans' radar for awhile now, and he's expressed interest in the program, though he's yet to receive an offer. His offer status is the same today, but the coaches talked to him more about that on Saturday.
Washington indicated an offer from MSU is important to him, and if an offer is granted in the near future, the Spartans will sit well in his recruitment. A lot of that has to do with the relationship he has with Cook, who he trains with three times a week.
