Sooners Go to Battle for Top Linemen
In spite of signing five offensive linemen in the class of 2010 and graduating only two seniors, it's hard to imagine anyone thinking the Sooners will take a small amount of 2011 prospects with numbers still a bit lower than peak years in the Bob Stoops era. When you add in that so few players have truly entrenched themselves as Oklahoma's starters of the future and it would seem that offensive line coach James Patton is an enviable sales position.
And as with any salesman with a quality product Patton has been looking to find the proverbial highest bidder as the Sooners have been more selective than any year in recent memory with their offers. With only five confirmed offers being issued to date and one of those already heading elsewhere, it's clear the Sooners have been very conscious of their scholarship choices.
Among those four active offers, three are at the offensive tackle position and are arguably the top three tackles in the country in Brey Cook, Matthew Hegarty, and Christian Westerman.
