Seau holds CSU offer
A familiar last name has produced a fresh talent. San Diego Defensive Lineman Ian Seau has picked up his first three scholarship offers, including one from the Colorado State Rams. The nephew of Junior Seau offers good size and 4.6 speed in the 40-yard dash to colleges looking for a defensive end.
In the weight room he has a 285-pound bench press and a 425-pound squat. He also excels in the classroom as well, posting a 3.0 grade-point average. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive end was named First Team All-County last season after collecting 90 tackles, 18 sacks, two forced fumbles and two blocked kicks for LaCosta Canyon High School.
"I am quick off the ball," Seau said. "By the time the offensive line has noticed the ball is hiked, I am already behind them. It is hard for them to block me. I guess I am pretty agile, so I can move side-to-side pretty well. They really have to guard every aspect of what I can cover."
Seau holds three scholarship offers presently - Colorado State, Colorado and Brigham Young University. In addition to the scholarship offers, he is also talking to UCLA, Oregon State and Cal at length.
He said Lance Reynolds is his recruiting coach at BYU and he likes what they have to offer. Daren Wilkinson is his contact at Colorado State and Seau said he likes hearing about the Colorado area. The University of Colorado has sent Kent Riddle to recruit Seau who said he has been recruited by CU for most of his career.
Seau hasn't taken any visits yet and hasn't made it to any Junior Days, but does have some ideas of what he is looking for in a school and a football program.
"If they show me love and what they are as a person, then I will like the school," Seau said. "I also want a team that can win and a team that can see me jumping into their program rather quickly. I've played 4-3 my whole life, so a 4-3 would be good to me. If I go 3-4, then I could play outside backer."
