Turner Meets Newest Sooner Assistant
A few weeks ago Oklahoma City Millwood cornerback Josh Turner confessed he had grown up a fan of the Miami Hurricanes. In a strange twist of fate just a few days after his admission, the in-state Oklahoma Sooners hired a man quite familiar with the inner workings of the program in Coral Gables, Fla.
When Oklahoma hired Former Hurricane player, as well as former Georgia defensive coordinator, Willie Martinez as it's secondary coach it got a unique angle on Turner's recruitment.
The 6-foot, 185-pound cornerback with offers from Oklahoma, Miami, Auburn, Texas, Nebraska, and a lengthy list of others had his first chance to meet Martinez during last weekend's junior day and came away with positive reviews.
"I came in and we talked a little. He was just showing me his family and his accomplishments, the guys he has put into the NFL," Turner recalled. "He said I reminded him of some of the guys that are on that paper and just how they went to the NFL they played corner."
