Oglesby enjoys visit to Iowa City
Josh Oglesby hasn't played a game in his junior year, but the interest from college programs continues to rise. On Tuesday night he made the short trip down the interstate to Iowa City and took in the Hawkeyes Big Ten opener against Purdue and liked what he saw and heard from the Iowa coaches.
"Overall I thought the visit went pretty well. Purdue was pretty tough, but I thought Iowa really played well in the first half and gave them a good game overall," said the 6-foot-5 junior wing player from Cedar Rapids Washington High School.
Oglesby says that he has been getting letters from the Iowa coaches, but this was his first time visiting for a game this year after attending their Elite Camp this summer.
"It was a pretty positive experience," Oglesby said. "The coaches invited me into the locker room after the game to visit with them and the players. Coach Jordan said that he will be coming to a couple of my games this year and he invited me down anytime for a game in Iowa City. I'd say that my interest in Iowa went up after tonight."
This season Oglesby has also made unofficial trips to Kansas, Wisconsin, Northern Iowa, and Creighton. He already has scholarship offers from Albany, Northern Iowa, Indiana State, and South Dakota State. He plans to make another trip to Kansas next month.
Right now his focus is on getting ready to start playing basketball after an early season suspension. The talented 2011 prospect has been in the gym every day and can't wait to get back on the court in early January.
"My first game will be the first game after break and I am anxious to get back on the court. Every day after school I have been shooting after practice with the assistant coaches. I can't wait to get back out there to help my team."
