...::THE OFFENSE

SHE SAYS::...

Nothing but good can be said about the Beavers offensive performance. They
shredded the mighty Trojan defense for 482 yards, led by a career performance
by senior quarterback Sean Canfield.

While Canfield looked outstanding, we also need to give credit to the offensive
line who've come a long way since the first few games of the season. I was slightly
concerned going into the game that the Beavers young tackles would be overmatched
by USC's dominant defensive line, but for the most part they held their own.

Really you couldn't have asked more from the offense, except maybe a touchdown
or two instead of field goals during the first half. Great performances were
also turned in by Damola Adeniji and Joe Halahuni as well.

This was the offense Beaver Nation was expecting to see at the beginning of
the season. Now all they can do is continue to tighten things up and stay healthy.

The only reason I graded them down to an A- is the lack of touchdown conversions
in the first half and James Rodgers fumble. No disrespect to Quon…fumbles
happen and for the Beavers this was numero uno of the season. It is just unfortunate
it had to come against the Trojans.

SHE SAYS-GRADE: A-

What an awesome game by Canfield. To play his best game in a Beaver uniform
at the stadium where his starting career was derailed for over a year is a testament
to how far he has come.

He looked extremely poised and was on target all night. You could tell that
he had full command of the offense. Spreading the ball around to 8 different
receivers says that he was really successful making his progressions.

Helping Canfield out immensely was the game plan and the offensive line. Quick
hitters and fast developing seam routes to the tight end kept USC's pass rush
at bay. They still got to him three times, but that was below their average
sack total per game. The O-line really stepped it up this week.

Quizz had a very nice second half after tweaking his ankle early in the game.
He had a couple of key runs that kept the chains moving and the Trojan defense
honest.

We've heard Riley talk about Halahuni for quite a while. Nice to see him have
his coming out party on such a big stage. The future looks bright with him at
the H-back spot.
