Middle Tennessee Preview
Mississippi State will put an end to its non-conference slate today traveling to Middle Tennessee for the first time in school history.
In fact, it will be the first time any Southeastern Conference program has played the Blue Raiders at Floyd Stadium. Middle Tennessee is 3-16 against teams from the SEC with all three victories coming on the road against Vanderbilt.
Today's game will mark the fourth time the two schools have met with MSU holding a 3-0 series advantage. The Bulldogs earned a 40-7 win in 1999, a 61-35 shootout in 2000 and a 31-22 decision last year.
State accumulated 366 yards of offense against the Blue Raiders last season led by running back Anthony Dixon' s 126 yard, three touchdown performance. Tyson Lee completed 17 of 25 passing for 197 yards, no interceptions and one rushing touchdown. [db]Arnil Stallworth was the leading receiver with four catches out of the backfield for 60 yards.
Surprisingly, neither team had a turnover in the 2008 contest.
The Bulldogs enter today's matchup on a three game losing skid dropping to 2-4 overall on the season. Mississippi State has committed 13 turnovers during that three game homestand dropping decisions to LSU, Georgia Tech and most recently a 31-24 homecoming setback to Houston last week.
