Anderson could get reps against cousin's alma mater
EAST LANSING - When Northwestern takes the field at Spartan Stadium this Saturday, Michigan State sophomore Andre Anderson will face a program he grew up cheering for.
As a youngster, the 5-foot-9, 190-pound Spartan running back spent a lot of time in Evanston (Ill.) watching his cousin Damien Anderson, a star for the Wildcats from 1998-2001.
These days, however, the fact that his cousin played at Northwestern is a touchstone for a personal rivalry for Anderson.
"To tell you the truth, my rival is always Northwestern," explained Anderson after practice Tuesday. "That is how I feel because my cousin played for Northwestern. And I have been going to Northwestern games since I was a young kid and that was just watching my cousin out there run around. So I always get extra amped up to play them.
"I am excited for this week, real excited. It is Homecoming and hopefully my cousin will be able come up to this game."
